Here at NEEMT we offer classes in the Allied Professions of Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), EKG Technician, and Medical Assistant
The Phlebotomist is the person that draws your blood for analysis at doctors’ offices, labs and hospitals. They work closely with the Laboratory Technicians to ensure the proper amount of blood is obtained and which collection tube must be used to ensure proper results. Many of the blood tests require specific collection tubes and even special procedures to ensure a clean collection. Here at NEEMTRI the student is taught how to identify and cannulate proper veins, how to identify the proper collection tubes for the tests ordered and other important skills for the phlebotomist to possess. The course length is approximately 100 hours of classroom and lab training, and at it’s completion the student is eligible to take their National Certification Exam.
The CNA is an intricle part of the patient care in nursing facilities, patient homes and hospitals. CNA’s help nursing staff in hospitals and nursing facilities with basic daily patient care, assisting the patients in and out of bed and in some cases feeding and bathing. CNA’s also work directly in patient homes as health care aids. The CNA program here at NEEMTRI comprises of approximately 200 hours of both classroom and clinical internship before the student is allowed to take the state certification exam.
EKG Technicians work in both Hospital and Private medical facilities. These members of the allied health community are trained in obtaining 12-lead Electro-Kardio-Grams (EKG’s) which are then interpreted by Cardiologists and other medical personnel. Our course takes the students through A&P of the heart, the electrical systems and obtaining clear and correct tracings. They also cover the proper techniques for administering stress testing and halter monitoring. This course is approximately 64 hours of instruction in both classroom and lab situations. At the conclusion of the course the students will be eligible to take their National Certification Exam.
